That Island Feeling by Karina May

An escape from real life on Pearl Island was what Andie Alcott had in mind when she organised a week away with her girlfriends. In particular, she wants to support her best friend, Taylor, who is recently divorced. But despite the beauty of the island, nothing is going to plan. Their accommodation is double-booked with a group of men intent on a weeklong stag party, and she can’t help but worry about her ailing father left back on the mainland. Then, there is the distractingly handsome Jack, who brought them over in the boat and with whom she keeps crossing paths. But she is not interested in a relationship, and besides, she has to look after her friends. They would all be lost without her meticulous planning, wouldn’t they?

Jack has certainly noticed Andie, who is always in the background helping others. Even though he seemingly has the weight of the entire island on his shoulders for reasons from the past, he wants to do his best to keep this group happy – especially the beautiful Andie. Both carry emotional baggage, so when sparks fly between them, will a holiday fling have a chance of becoming anything more?

That Island Feeling is a simmering but tender romance with a cast of quirky but loveable characters. It’s the perfect beach read – an escapist romantic comedy balanced with deeper themes of overcoming loss and daring to hope for new beginnings. In these fictional pages, you will soon be lost in a world with azure waters, sun-kissed sands, oysters and wine.
