I am a big fan of Sue Heazlewood's whimsical Tails of Tangleby Gardens books, which combine storytelling and recipes for children. So it’s wonderful to see she has released Tea Party Recipes, with 24 recipes for tea parties that children can enjoy!
Tea Party Recipes is smaller than her previous books, and it has wipeable pages that are perfect for young ones to create recipes in their home kitchen. It’s a very attractive package with lovely, colourful photography overlaid with illustrations, giving the book a timeless, retro feel.
As for the recipes, they are all simple recipes, often with only a few ingredients, that are simple for children to make. I really like the look of:
Strawberry Yoghurt Smoothies, with only 4 ingredients, and done in a blender in a flash.
White Chocolate Marshmallows, again, are so simple to make with only three ingredients.
Chocolate Mousse Cups – a recipe that all the family will enjoy.
Lemon Tiny Tarts – so easy and so tasty!
Lemonade Scones – delightful small scones, perfect for a tea party.
Butterfly Cakes – I’m recommending this recipe on the basis of the beautiful photograph, but it’s another great recipe for children.
And who could resist the Cucumber Tea Sandwiches?
This is a brilliant recipe book to use while teaching children to cook, and they will enjoy staging their own tea party afterwards. Another fabulous book from Sue Heazlewood.
