Julie Biuso is a much-loved New Zealand cookbook author, who has won many awards and her career cooking and writing about food has taken her around the world. For her latest cookbook she has teamed up with her daughter Ilaria, who has been involved in the book shoots since she was young.
Shared Kitchen: Real Food From Scratch has more than 160 recipes that is based on their website of the same name. This is an impressive cookbook! The photographs are stunning, and the range of dishes is inspiring.
Here are some of the standouts for me:
From the Bites section - Smoked Fish & Caper Dip – super tasty but super easy – and all I can say is YUM! And the Beetroot & Walnut Dip looks sensational.
Tunisian Eggs from the Breakfast section includes a bit of spice on a dish that will keep you fuelled for a long time.
From the Never Fail section you can’t go past the Mac ‘n Cheese – which gets the most hits on the Shared Kitchen website. The French Roast Chicken looks like a winner also.
From the Mid-week Made Easy section, the Crispy Broccoli & Potato Stacks are scrumptious!
From the Sour Salty Smoky Spicy section, the stand outs are the Coconut Chicken Curry and the Mushroom Burgers.
The next section in the book invites you to Take It Outside. Who could resist the Haloumi & Watermelon Salad, or the Green Tomato & Avocado Salad?
The Long Table section has so many great dishes, including the Moroccan Chicken and Gingered Fish with Lentils.
For Rainy Day Dinners (like now when I’m writing this) the Chicken Baked in Paper, is the perfect comfort meal.
To finish off with something sweet, I can’t wait to try the Meringue Raspberry Cream Bombe.
I predict Shared Kitchen will get a lot of use in our family kitchen – this is a book to treasure and cook from for years to come.
