Calmony by Jess Stuart

The eighth book by this popular New Zealand author, Jess Stuart has created a guidebook for living a more present, connected and purposeful life.

While Calmony is a word that Jess has created, I wouldn’t be surprised if people start using it in everyday conversation in the future and for dictionaries to pick it up. Jess describes it as ‘the sense of harmony brought about by a feeling of calm and contentment.’ Instead of a mad rush of things to make us happy, Jess urges us to stop living a fast life and to instead live a good life, with simplicity and space, acceptance, connection and compassion – and she takes you through all of these points, and many more in this well-written and informative book.

Jess is on a mission to put the ‘being’ back into ‘human being’, and in an age of AI and busyness, it’s refreshing to hear an author urge us to ‘be’ rather than always focus on ‘doing’. Jess refers to ancient wisdom to solve our modern problems, and helps others focus on building a life where they live with purpose, rather forever chasing external ‘happiness.’

Calmony is a must-read for anyone struggling with mental health issues or burnout or just wanting a happier life. Jess has practical steps towards contentment despite any external circumstances so you can lead a more fulfilled life. Readable, relatable, uplifting and insightful.
