Gavin Bishop is a children’s picture book writer and illustrator and he’s won oodles of Awards, including The Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in 2019, and our own NZ Booklovers Best Children’s Book Award earlier this year.
His new book, Amazing Aotearoa Activity Book is inspired by his previous books Aotearoa: The New Zealand Story and Wildlife of Aotearoa, but this time it’s an activity book. There is literally hours of fun to be had with this book, that will also enrich children’s understanding of our country and NZ culture.
There are over 60 activities. It’s packed with quizzes, mazes, colouring pages, puzzles and games and cool activities like inventing a superhero, designing a house, making a map, designing a flag and coming up with a menu.
Amazing Aotearoa Activity Book is perfect for children aged 6 to 12 years, and it’s designed to encourage creativity and imagination, so it’s really the must have book for the school holidays. There are hours and hours of fun to be had here. I’m a big fan of books that encourage children to create their own story in words and pictures, so I think this book is a real winner.
